RECAP OF THE LANDFILL CINDERELLA EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AWARDING EVENT FOR DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS OF THE CHARITY A BETTER LIFE CAMBODIA, KAMPOT PROVINCE, CAMBODIA

After awarding scholarships to K’Ho ethnic students in Dang Sron, Lam Dong, Hmong in Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai and S’tieng and M’Nong in Bu Gia Map, Binh Phuoc, 4TheYouth Foundation has awarded 9 additional “Landfill Cinderella Education Scholarship Program” scholarships worth 250 USD to disadvantaged students of the charity organization “A Better Life Cambodia” in Kampot province, Cambodia, with the accompany of Sophy Ron on Sunday, October 14, 2024.

Sophy Ron is the main character behind the inspirational story that education can completely change a person’s life and is the key to unlocking great opportunities, which we have shared on 4TheYouth Foundation’s launch day https://www.facebook.com/share/p/chkoqtDTar5YdNgb/.

She had to pick up trash from a young age to earn a living to help her family and did not receive any education until she was 11 years old yet graduated as valedictorian from Trinity and continued to receive a full scholarship from the prestigious University of Melbourne. Her life’s motto is: “A not-giving-up message. It doesn’t matter in what circumstances.”

Interestingly, Sophy Ron, the inspirational figure of Landfill Cinderella, and Elsa have become friends, bonded by their shared desire to improve the lives of disadvantaged children through enhanced access to education.

The scholarships, derived from the profits earned from teaching Public Forum debate by Saigon South International School’s students at Vietnam Public Forum Academy, not only provide financial support to help these Cambodian students overcome educational barriers, but also light up the dreams of young souls who are thirsty for knowledge.

We believe that education is the key to opening the door to development, where potentials are unleashed and extended to later contribute a small part to the country’s development.

Reflecting on her involvement, Sophy Ron expressed hope for continued collaboration, underscoring the shared commitment to improving the lives of underpriviledged children through education.

4TheYouth Foundation would like to sincerely thank everyone who has accompanied us from teaching debate at VPFA and throughout the scholarship awarding process.
