As scheduled, yesterday morning, the 4TheYouth Foundation group, including students from Saigon South International School, Canadian International School and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, the oldest of whom is 16 years old and the youngest is only 12, gathered at Dang Sron, Lam Dong province to begin their visit and work with about 200 K’Ho ethnic children here.
With the desire to contribute a small part to help disadvantaged children, especially those from ethnic minority groups, along with the belief that education holds the power to transform, acting as a lantern in the dark, opening doors to hope and opportunity, the Landfill Cinderella Education Scholarship Program for Ethnic Minority Children in Vietnam has awarded the first 10 scholarships to the K’ Ho ethnic children. We believe that this event will encourage them to continue to overcome educational barriers and be inspirational examples of overcoming such difficulties for other children in the K’ Ho ethnic community as well as other ethnic minorities in Vietnam. Helping those in need, beyond the boundaries of circumstances and backgrounds, is like seeds falling into fertile soil, blossoming into something magical like Sophy Ron in the Landfill Cinderella story that my parents told me in 5th grade (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/ygDFBoVuF6LPVsY8/?mibextid=Nif5oz). Moreover, it helps nurture a picture embroidered with compassion and solidarity in the community, thereby creating positive changes in society.
In addition, 4TheYouth Foundation also built the Landfill Cinderella virtual library project with the online activities/teaching for K’ Ho ethnic children. Through this, the resources of an online library can provide nourishment for the minds and spirits of these young people, and volunteers who undertake teaching work can bring knowledge to their doorsteps, regardless of their circumstances. This is a journey to discover the modern world, where the treasures of education can be unearthed with just one click.
Finally, the activities of visiting, playing and gift giving to the K’ Ho ethnic children are charitable acts full of love between youth despite different living and learning environments.
4 TheYouth Foundation sincerely thanks all the parents, priests, nuns and especially the students who have accompanied us in bringing joy and confidence to the K’ Ho ethnic children and their futures through enhanced access to education and their own hard work.
